    New Technologies and the Impact on Personality Rights in Brazil

    As technology continues to evolve at an exponentially increasing pace, it transforms our lives and societies, thus shaping our perceptions of reality with high speed and impacting the relationship between the individual and the society, including businesses and, as a result, the legal system. The young area of law is trying to explore the effects of new technologies in our relationships with it, as well as identify the best use of new technologies to reduce the gap among new technology, new societal behaviors and various legal systems. The purpose of this paper is to examine the current uses of wearable technologies in Brazil and the legal issues emerging from the various uses of these technologies and their impact on personality rights. So, to what extent do the Brazilian users of emerging technologies appreciate the terms and conditions agreed by themselves and their impact on personality rights? The authors used empirical quantitative data from a cross-section of Brazilian users to explore the level of awareness in regards to the terms and conditions associated with the use of emerging technologies and the impact on their personality rights. The authors found that the large majority of these users of technology are unaware of the adverse impact of the agreed terms and conditions on their personality rights. Furthermore, they are also unaware of the basics of how the technology operates and therefore are unable to enforce their rights. The research is based on data collected by using only one survey with a sample of 500 students from three universities in three Brazilian States with an age range between 18 and 40 years old. This paper extends the previous research on the impact of emerging technologies on personality rights and demonstrates with empirical data that there is a serious risk of erosion of such rights. Furthermore, this research provides a unique insight into the users of emerging technologies in the emerging Brazilian market and the impact on the Brazilian legal system

    Heterogeneous Graph Neural Networks for Fraud Detection and Explanation in Supply Chain Finance

    It is a critical mission for financial service providers to discover fraudulent borrowers in a supply chain. The borrowers’ transactions in anongoing business are inspected to support the providers’ decision on whether to lend the money. Considering multiple participants in a supply chain business, the borrowers may use sophisticated tricks to cheat, making fraud detection challenging. In this work, we propose a multitask learning framework, MultiFraud, for complex fraud detection with reasonable explanation. The heterogeneous information from multi-view around the entities is leveraged in the detection framework based on heterogeneous graph neural networks. MultiFraud enables multiple domains to share embeddings and enhance modeling capabilities for fraud detection. The developed explainer provides comprehensive explanations across multiple graphs. Experimental results on five datasets demonstrate the framework’s effectiveness in fraud detection and explanation across domains

    An Integrated Service-Oriented Development Platform for Realization of e-Business Systems

    Enterprises need to be responsive to meet dynamic businesses and requirements. Service-oriented architecture can improve e-Business applications in integration and flexibility. Therefore, service-oriented architecture has been envisioned as an appropriate computational paradigm for e-business applications. This paper proposes a multi-model driven collaborative development platform for building service-oriented e-Business systems. The platform supports service-oriented software engineering and application developments. It employs three views, i.e., business view, process view, and service view to support business and technical consultants’ operations. Consultants can collaborate from distributed sites of, e.g., clients and IT vendors to provide their clients’ with rapid system development and demonstration. The proposed platform is service-oriented and driven by three models, i.e., service meta-model, process model and business model. All of these three models are supported by a semantic reasoning engine to facilitate intelligent service discovery, process execution and business-business integration.     Logic-centred architecture for ubiquitous health monitoring

    One of the key points to maintain and boost research and development in the area of smart wearable systems (SWS) is the development of integrated architectures for intelligent services, as well as wearable systems and devices for health and wellness management. This paper presents such a generic architecture for\ud multiparametric, intelligent and ubiquitous wireless sensing platforms. It is a transparent, smartphone-based sensing framework\ud with customizable wireless interfaces and plug‘n’play capability to easily interconnect third party sensor devices. It caters to wireless\ud body, personal, and near-me area networks. A pivotal part of the platform is the integrated inference engine/runtime environment\ud that allows the mobile device to serve as a user-adaptable personal health assistant. The novelty of this system lays in a rapid visual\ud development and remote deployment model. The complementary visual InferenceEngineEditor that comes with the package enables\ud artificial intelligence specialists, alongside with medical experts, to build data processing models by assembling different components\ud and instantly deploying them (remotely) on patient mobile devices. In this paper, the new logic-centered software architecture for ubiquitous health monitoring applications is described, followed by a\ud discussion as to how it helps to shift focus from software and hardware development, to medical and health process-centered design of new SWS applications
